[What did Mrs. Brisby do today, one may ask. Usually there is no answer, as she does perfectly fine keeping to herself.

At any rate, I'll take responsibility for releasing the mice. I think I'll get in quite a bit less trouble than you would. You have better things to do than get in trouble for such small things. You're more than I am, at least. So you can definitely do more than just let them out of their cages.
